The Ittekoi KilnThe Ittekoi wood-fired kiln's was developed by staff at the Shigaraki Ceramic Cultural Park, in Shiga, Japan. It was designed to reduce firing time, while remaining true to the flavor of the traditional kilning of the Anagama kilns used by this National Treasure Area.
During earlier residencies at Shigaraki, I fired the original kiln six or eight time, and was so satisfied with what it could do, that I asked for, and received permission and designs to build one of my own. Upon getting into the MFA program at the University of Oklahoma, I received permission to build the Ittekoi on campus. A few picture of the kiln and what it can do are found in the pictures to the left. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me! |
