Richard Notkin

This short workshop/residency was my first taste of fame...vicariously, that is.  Richard Notkin's works adorn many permanent collections, and are a voice for social change.  My time with him was invaluable!

Vallauris

Vallauris is nestled between Cannes and Nice on the Golfe de Juan on the Mediterranean Sea in Southern France, at the foot of the Alps.  It was the home of Pablo Picasso from 1948 - 1955, and is considered the center of European Ceramic Arts.

Shigaraki

Shigaraki-yaki is among the most expensive and sought after ceramics in Japan.  Shigaraki-cho is home to hundreds of potters, many of who have carried down the ceramic traditions through dozens of generation for over a thousand years.
